As you all know, love and romance tarot readings are the most popular in the industry. Because of this, I believe that it’s helpful to find ways to read the cards more easily.
You must have a good grasp on the fundamental meanings of the cards, but developing new meanings for card combinations will make your readings richer.
That’s why over the years, I have noticed certain combinations that are clear indicators of a happy love match.
Granted, relationships are not full of sunshine and rainbows; they all have their ups and downs. However, when I see these positive cards in readings, I can’t help but feel elated for my client. When seeing these cards, I know that their relationship is on a happy path.
So, let’s get started with the top six tarot card combinations you want to see in your tarot readings!
The Lovers + The Sun
- Good vibes and happy times
- Joyful abundance
- Divine match
- Spiritual compatibility
In my readings, The Lovers card IS NOT a card of making choices. I follow A. E. Waite’s meanings when it comes to this card, which speaks of a loving couple when they first meet. For me, this card suggests that Spirit Guides approve of this union. The couple is meant to be exactly where they are and in some cases, this could represent non-monogamous relationships.
The Sun card is all things happy in the tarot deck. We see sunflowers in the background with a laughing baby riding a small horse or pony. This card reminds me of childhood as well as children.
These two cards together speak of fun, optimism, and a feeling of divine intervention that brought the couple together. The sun shines on this union and will do so for some time to come.
Ten of Pentacles + Ten of Cups
- Legacy and old age
- Happy family
- Material wealth
- Emotional fulfillment
In the tarot, the number ten holds great significance. It is the end of of a cycle, or a journey, that brings on rewards for your hard work. In both cards, there are images of families happily dancing. So not only will you be emotionally fulfilled (cups), but materially successful (pentacles) as well. These cards represent family and building a legacy. A relationship like this is guaranteed to stand the test of the time.
Six of Cups + Two of Cups
- Soulmates or twin flames
- Equal partnership
- Past relationship
- Healing wounds of the heart
These two cards are probably the sweetest in the tarot when it comes to romantic relationships, In the Six of Cups, we see a male child offering a blooming flower in a chalice to a female child. For the Two of Cups, now, the woman is offering her cup to the man. When I see these two cards, I immediately wonder if this is a childhood sweetheart. On an esoteric level, this combination could represent a soulmate or twin flame scenario. In a sense, the couple is a partnership from the past.
The Star + Ace of Cups
- Love overflowing
- Healing waters
- Rejuvenation or beginning anew
- Spiritual connection
The Ace of Cups is a gorgeous card. In the photo, we see a golden chalice with water spilling forth that collects into a lake full of lilies. Traditionally, lilies represent old love, the kind that grows over time. There is a dove above this chalice, signifying peace with a hand offering this gift of love.
The Star card is similar. Here, we see an angelic figure kneeling in front of a pond, pouring water into the pond and on land. Surrounding this figure is a lush, green landscape with mountains in the background and the stars up above. It truly is a scene of healing, which is why I love seeing these two cards in romance tarot readings.
I especially love to see these two cards for couples who have gone no contact, but hope to reunite. In that case, the answer is yes! The couple will find their way to peace and happiness.
The Hierophant + Four of Wands
- Celebrating with family
- Stability and tradition
- Belonging to a community
The Four of Wands is one of the most joyous cards to receive in any reading, but especially a love tarot card reading. In the artwork for this tarot card, we see two people standing under a celebratory wreath. Their arms are raised in victory as they stand in front of a castle and a crowd of people off to the side.
It is possible that they are celebrating a new marriage.
The Hierophant shows a pope figure with his hand raised in an act of issuing an edict. Although a hierophant is seen as the keeper of esoteric knowledge, in the Rider-Waite tarot, this figure represents dogma, traditional and “lower” religions of the material realm.
The Four of Wands coupled with The Hierophant spells marriage on the horizon. If the couple is not interested in matrimony, this combination can also suggest a civil union of some sort that can include cohabitation, meeting family members or any other step-up in the relationship that implies a level of seriousness that was that apparent before.
The Hierophant and Four of Wands together is a sure sign of commitment in the many forms it can take.
BONUS: Ace of Wands + Empress
- New beginnings
- Fertility
- Sexual chemistry
- Homemaking
As a bonus, I’ve decided to include a sixth card combination. Previously, I wrote about soulmates, twin flames, no contact and emotional fulfillment, but what I have not written about is SEX.
Yes, sex.
In the traditional meanings of the cards, The Devil is meant to show a couple (The Lovers) after they have lost their ‘innocence’ (remember, these descriptions were written in 1909). However, there are two cards that better describe great, intimate sex that do not include a horned goat or looming Baphomet figure.
This combination is the Ace of Wands and The Empress.
The Empress is a lovely card. The artwork for this card shows a woman wearing a beautiful gown that’s covered in pomegranates. She sits atop a luxurious chaise with the symbol of Venus next to her, on the ground. Nature surrounds her as a gorgeous waterfall with lush green trees. She wears a crown of flowers and stars and holds a golden rod.
The Empress is the epitome of earthly pleasures. She enjoys her body and her five senses.
As for the Ace of Wands, I believe the artwork is clear about what this card implies in love tarot reading!
Whenever you see this card in a romantic tarot card reading, just know that there will be a lot of invigorating and passionate moments.
Once combined with The Empress, this means that the couple will enjoy each other and be indulgent in all ways possible. Just be careful not to become pregnant with his hot combo!
